Mexican finance minister Arturo Herrera met with US.Treasury Scretary Janet Yellen last Thursday. Yellet underlined the importance of securing support from the Group of 20 major economies for a proposed global minimum tax.
Herrera has been open to the proposal. It is important to remember that the Mexican government has had a great international participation in different issues such as not hoarding medicines against Covid-19 and a firm stance in support of Central America.
Yellen also affirmed the Treasury’s commitment to deepen cooperation with Mexico
Arturo Herrera, who has graduated from New York University, has been proposed to be the next governor of the Mexican Central Bank. The future governor has reiterated maintaining the bank’s autonomy and focusing on post-covid economic recovery.
