Piracy and Hegemony in Southeast Asia
Given the importance that Southeast Asia has acquired in recent years as a strategic space for the continuity of US hegemony, the phenomenon of piracy in the region, as a form of expression of uneven capitalist develpment, has been tactically exploited by the goverment of the United States of America as part of its strategy of local containment of the interests of its main economic competitor: the People´s Republic of China.
